Why Romanian Interpreting Is Its Own Category in the UK
The UK-resident community now runs into the hundreds of thousands, with strong concentrations in East London (Barking and Dagenham, Newham, Waltham Forest), across the West Midlands, in Kent (agricultural and port-adjacent work), and in Greater Manchester.
Romanian carries a specific institutional profile in the UK. We can put an NDA in place on request.

Where a Romanian Interpreter Fits Best
Settings where Romanian interpreters are used.
Medical & Maternity
Hospital admissions, maternity and antenatal, community health teams, GP surgeries and outpatient clinics.
Local Authority
Local authority housing assessments and community adult social care. Interpreter as neutral conduit; no advocacy role.
EUSS & Immigration
EU Settlement Scheme appeals, pre-settled to settled status conversion casework, family reunion applications, biometric appointments, and Home Office interviews connected to EUSS status disputes.
Police Station Under PACE Code C
On request, subject to availability. Police station work is quote only.
Commercial & Transport
Warehousing incident interviews, cross-border commercial negotiation with Romanian counterparties, transport and logistics work, Romanian firms tendering UK contracts, and HR investigations involving dual-national employees.
Romanian Interpreter and Romanian Translation Together
Interpreting and document translation are separate services with different production paths, but the same booking can carry both. The interpreter attends a solicitor consultation about a birth or marriage certificate, a criminal record extract from the Cazier Judiciar, an academic diploma from a Romanian university, or a Romanian employer letter that needs to accompany an EUSS or family reunion application. The document is then translated as a certified translation (Moldovan Cyrillic-script certificates included).
See Romanian document translation for the paperwork side of a Romanian file. Same rate card in sterling, invoiced together on request.
Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can you book a Romanian interpreter in the UK?
Urgent requests are confirmed as soon as an interpreter is free, subject to availability.
How much does a Romanian interpreter cost in the UK?
Remote (phone or video) Romanian interpreting starts at £49.99 per 30 minutes. On-site business or medical starts at £149.99 per hour. Court and legal work and police station attendance under PACE Code C are quote only. Final price confirmed before booking, based on language, location, date, duration and availability. Minimum booking applies, and travel outside the city is quoted separately. All rates fixed in writing before the assignment.
Do you handle Romanian for police stations under PACE Code C?
On request, subject to availability. Police station work is quote only. PACE Code C requires an interpreter for a Romanian-speaking detainee who does not follow English sufficiently to understand the caution, the reason for arrest or the questioning.
Do you cover Romanian for NHS appointments?
Yes. Hospitals, maternity units, community health teams, GP surgeries and outpatient clinics in person, subject to availability, and by phone or video for telehealth, discharge planning and short consultations.
Do you handle Moldovan Romanian as well?
Yes. Moldovan and Romanian are mutually intelligible; the working spoken language in institutional settings is standard Romanian, and a Romanian interpreter handles Moldovan speakers without difficulty. On the document side, older Moldovan certificates issued in Cyrillic script (pre-1989) can be translated as certified Romanian translations; the interpreter side of the file is unaffected by the script question.
Do you also handle Romanian document translation?
Yes. See our Romanian translation page for certified Romanian document translation (birth certificates, marriage certificates, criminal records from the Cazier Judiciar, diplomas, medical records and legal documents). Same rate card in sterling, invoiced together if you need both interpreter and translated documents on one matter.
